FileMaker 16 and FMTools Retirement

The release of a new version of FileMaker is always an opportunity to review current development practices and the announcement of FileMaker 16 was no different. The news that FileMaker now uses a Single Document Interface (SDI) under Microsoft Windows™ is very significant and will have a big influence on our development practices for deployment on Windows. I must admit to being distracted by the second change to FileMaker windows - the introduction of Card Windows - as the introduction of SDI has another consequence...

The release of FileMaker Pro version 16 finally means the primary reason for the existence of FMTools is gone! FMTools can now retire after over 20 years of service!

The final version 6 of FMTools works with FileMaker Pro™ versions 6 to 15 and with solutions bound with FileMaker Developer/Advanced.
